After Blue Bloods, Tom Selleck’s Next Jesse Stone Film Features Donnie Wahlberg in the Ideal Role

Now that Blue Bloods is officially over, if Tom Selleck is going back to Jesse Stone, co-star Donnie Wahlberg would be ideal for the part. Selleck was occupied co-writing and starring in the Jesse Stone films, a string of noir mysteries, prior to the release of Blue Bloods. In recent years, Selleck has been unable to return to Stone because to his hectic schedule with CBS’s long-running police drama, but with the conclusion of Blue Bloods, there are rumors that Jesse Stone 10 will reunite.

Selleck has repeatedly expressed interest, but he told TV Insider that he is unsure of his next project. Since he last portrayed Jesse nearly ten years ago, the Paradise police chief’s life has undergone significant upheaval. To attract more attention to the TV movie series, the next Jesse Stone would be wise to include certain members of the Blue Bloods cast, and Donnie Wahlberg would be a perfect substitute for a beloved character.

By now, Captain Healy must have retired.

For the first time, Stephen McHattie’s Captain Healy did not show up in Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise. Shortly after Stone’s arrival in Paradise, he became good friends with Healy, who was in charge of the Massachusetts State Police Homicide Division. It would create a fresh dynamic for a younger, more aggressive character to take Healy’s place, as McHattie is in his late 70s and Healy would probably be retired as Captain by the time the next movie comes out. Donnie Wahlberg would be a fantastic choice in this scenario.

For starters, the dynamic between Selleck and Wahlberg on Blue Bloods would be reversed if Donnie’s character were made the Police Captain. Wahlberg would become Jesse’s new supervisor as a result, and there would undoubtedly be disagreements between the two due to Stone’s strict policing methods. Wahlberg would likely not need much time to film this either, as most of Healy’s sequences used to be filmed on a single office set.

Wahlberg and Selleck have both pleaded to keep Blue Bloods going and voiced their regret over its demise. Since they would obviously love to continue working together, it would make sense for the star to create a part for Wahlberg as well, especially if Jesse Stone is Selleck’s next nearly certain destination.

Now that the main series is over, there has been discussion of a possible Blue Bloods spinoff, but nothing has been approved. Regardless, Jesse Stone 10 ought to include one or two of Blue Bloods’ most important members. Reuniting the full group would be strange, but it would be simple to include performers like Len Cariou, Bridget Moynahan, and Wahlberg in Jesse’s upcoming mystery.

The celebrity also benefits from having collaborated with this group for 15 years, which means they already get along well on film. Since Jesse Stone and Blue Bloods are two of Selleck’s most well-liked series, some cross-pollination wouldn’t harm the latter when it makes a comeback.
