Due to Gibson’s noncompliance with an April 2022 payment order of $10,000 per month, he was held in contempt of court.
Best recognized for his part in the Fast and Furious movie series, actor and musician Tyrese Gibson was arrested Monday morning in a Fulton County, Georgia, courthouse for failing to pay child support. The arrest occurred in the midst of a continuing legal dispute with his ex-wife, Samantha Lee, over child support payments for their daughter, Soraya, age five.
Because Gibson disregarded a $10,000 monthly payment order that was issued in April 2022, he was held in contempt of court. The case was presided over by Judge Kevin Farmer, who decided that Gibson’s arrest was warranted due to his failure to pay his debts. Shortly after leaving the courtroom, he was arrested and placed in handcuffs.
It has been reported that Gibson could avoid jail time if he pays $73,000, which includes $7,500 for Lee’s lawyer’s legal fees. It is said that the singer is trying to pay off the loan.
Gibson had hinted at the possibility of his arrest on social media, accusing Judge Farmer and Lee’s legal team of collusion in a since-deleted Instagram post. The legal battle continues as Gibson seeks to address the court’s ruling and settle the payments.
