Over two decades of a movie franchise seem to have no brakes on the concluding chapter. Hollywood residents can attend, and all characters may return. Anything can occur.
The Fast & Furious 11 release date is unknown.
After confirming Fast 11’s 2025 release at CinemaCon, Vin Diesel locked down April 4, 2025, on Instagram.
No filming date has been announced, but Diesel claimed on Instagram that “part two is going to be an effort from our fast family and studio as you have never seen.” Large cast, sets, and production will characterize this heavy-lift film. This release date is probable, but not final.
The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes raised more questions about that release date. Peter Cramer, president of Universal Pictures, told The Los Angeles Times, “If it lasts for too long, it’ll be hard to imagine that we can get this film up on the timeline we’d like to.”
Lucky for Fast XI, both strikes are over, so pre-production can begin.

Leo Abelo Perry’s Brian Marcos, whom director Louis Leterrier joked would “age slower” with Fast 11’s delayed release, was highlighted to Comicbook:
Our trick is that I have a young son who’s aging swiftly. That youngster playing Dom’s son is on Instagram daily. I’m looking. “Ugh, you have a mustache—slow down.”
Since Leterrier wants Perry to stay young, he may have a major role in the upcoming Fast and Furious film.
In Fast 11, will Paul Walker reprise Brian O’Conner?
A character who has never died on screen is the biggest return question for a movie franchise known for breaching the “did you see a body?” norm.

Two posthumous “appearances” in the Fast & Furious franchise have followed one of the most emotional endings in movie history, when Brian and Dom drove off in different directions.
First, Brian’s blue Nissan arrives at the family house to fill the table seat off-screen. In Fast X, only archival video recapped the franchise.
Briefly: it will happen. Universal finished Furious 7 with CGI and Walker’s brothers. Recent advances in artificial intelligence utilization of face and likeness make Brian O’Connor’s return in this franchise likely.
Paul Walker’s family must support his ethical decision. Aside from one past World Wrestling Champion, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and the Fast Family have one of Hollywood’s strongest relationships.
Vin’s approval of Brian O’Connor’s nasty return is harder to accept than his cancellation.
Will Fast 11 Have Dwayne Johnson?
Any Fast X exitee will tell you that Hobbs will be a significant player in Fast XI and that Dwayne Johnson is back. Three characters were scheduled to lead Fast 11 before Fast 12 after Fast X ended with the core family’s scenes reduced in half for a cliffhanger.
The pack leader was Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs, threatened by Dante Reyes. All signs suggested Fast 10 was the Vin Diesel film, Fast 11 was Dwayne Johnson, and Fast 12 was the Arnold Schwarzenegger/Carl Weathers Predator gif.
Wrong.
Dwayne Johnson announced Hobbs’ comeback to the Fast franchise, and Hobbs’ feature-length return was revealed shortly after. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this is not Fast XI or Johnson’s Hobbs & Shaw spinoff.
Writer Chris Morgan remarked “This isn’t a Hobbs & Shaw sequel like ‘Fast 11.’ Consider ‘Fast X.5.'”
This may be the third film Vin Diesel mentioned when he said Fast X was the start of a “final trilogy” given Fast XI is the only official sequel.
Most likely, this new Dwayne Johnson-led “Hobbs Spinoff” will deal with Fast X’s effects on Luke Hobbs and possibly his friend Deckard Shaw, who is trying to save his mother Maggie (Helen Mirren).
The Fast XI Endgame event might unite both sides.
Fast & Furious 11: What Happens?
Fast 11’s plot is unclear due to the Dwayne Johnson-led spinoff between Fast 10 and Fast 11.
Fast X has five non-Hobbs-related cliffhangers, ensuring that Fast XI will tie together many threads.
In the Shaw Family line, Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw packs a backpack to save his mom. Luke Evans’ watch starts.
There are still off-screen fates to reveal, last-second cameos that open new (and old) doors, and sequences that just cut to black. No “Don’t Stop Believing” is played.
First and foremost are Dom and his son Little Brian stuck on the bottom of an erupting dam they had just driven down, outrunning an avalanche like skiers. How Dom escapes will be revealed to fans.
Just before those events, Alan Ritchardson’s Aimes turned heel to join Jason Mamoa on the dark side, ending Tej, Ramsey, Roman, and Han’s heroic comeback. If they survive that plane accident, mortgage them all.
Next, when Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty and Charlize Theron’s Cipher establish an unlikely couple for Fast & Furious, Gal Gadot’s Giselle appears unexpectedly. The Fast movie three movies after her character’s demise brought her on the submarine.
How and why she’s here is unknown, but everyone is curious.
Finally, the Nobodys are Fast & Furious’ final family. In this family of mystery super-spies, Brie Larson joined Scott Eastwood and Kurt Russel. They can appear like The Vale at any time.
Director Louis Leterrier suggests Fast X may reveal the following film’s direction. Leterrier told Cinemablend that some scenes’ dialogue sets up Fast 11:
Listen to speech and dialogue. Visuals, flare, fun, and everything else are enjoyed. Some situations are designed with real talks and threats. When something stands out, it’s intentional. There were five scenes that lay the groundwork for our future adventure.”
Leterrier specifically referenced the scene where Cipher meets Dom and Letty to tell them of Dante’s evil plot:
Start at the start. Cipher enters Dom and Letty’s house. Everything will depend on her words.”

That’s all we know about Fast 11, the mega-movie guarantee. The length of a movie raises more questions than it answers. None of that has stopped this franchise.
After 22 years, Fast & Furious fans have learned to live life a quarter-mile at a time, and this story is no exception. In this universe, few things are guaranteed, but family is.
On April 4, 2025, Fast XI may hit theaters.
