Vin Diesel Teases the Release Date, Finale Status, and Return of Dwayne Johnson in “Fast X: Part 2”

There are challenges associated with becoming the follow-up to a $7.3 billion franchise. Ask Vin Diesel about Fast X: Part 2, the upcoming sequel of Fast & Furious.

In a social media post yesterday, the celebrity hinted at a potential spring 2026 release, the return of Dwayne Johnson, with whom he has reportedly clashed both on and off film, and a two-movie conclusion.

“I got universal in one ear saying we need FastX2 by March 2026!” Diesel wrote. Comcast is suggesting that two films are required for the finale. The Fast Five writer then sent me this picture and stated that we must see DOM and HOBBS work out their disagreements. All I want is to resume actual street racing, realistic stunts, and that lovely camaraderie. Cheers to Thanksgiving!

With Fast X filmmaker Louis Leterrier returning to lead, Universal has already assigned screenwriters Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel from The Flash and Cloverfield to write Fast X: Part 2.

As of right now, Universal has no event movie scheduled for March 2026. Instead, they have a spot set out for Mike Flanagan’s untitled Blumhouse The Exorcist film on March 13 of that year. Easter, which comes on April 5, 2026, is when several Fast & Furious films typically come out. Holy Weekend is now being held at the university for an untitled animated event film.

It’s interesting to note that Disney’s Moana 2 is aiming to surpass Johnson’s record-breaking domestic box office debut with Furious 7 ($147.1M) this weekend. In the U.S. and Canada, that film also marks the franchise’s best opening ever. Moana 2 is on track to surpass The Fate of the Furious ($98.7M) as Johnson’s second-highest opening at the American box office.

Universal was contacted by Deadline for comment. If the studio weighs in, we’ll let you know.

Fast X finished at $146.1M domestic, $704.8M, after opening to $67M at the domestic B.O. and $323.8M globally.
